Why It matters

Laughter is the ONLY medicine that can improve your physical, mental, and social well-being all at one time and with no negative side effects!

Shared laughter breaks down barriers and builds the kind of community that attracts seniors and caregivers alike.

"We believe in the power of laughter, connection, and the joy that shared experiences bring."

Stand-up comedy has been a passion for our founder, Amy Huber-Smith, who has been performing stand-up at local Detroit comedy clubs since 2009 as break from her day job in HR.

In 2023, when her mother moved into a senior community, Amy began to see firsthand how transformative and powerful those rare moments of humor were. And so a couple years later, the Senior Comedy Community was born.

At the Senior Comedy Community, we don’t just bring humor to your community—we help you take it to the next level. After our Intro to Comedy Hour, bring us back for the workshop offering, where seniors practice with the mic, learn technique and turn life experiences into a laughter-filled performance in front of family and friends.

Whether bonding over shared laughter or developing new jokes, humor breaks down barriers and builds connection - creating a community that attracts seniors and caregivers alike.
